2025 Exam Results

Bahamian Media News:

The Ministry of Education and Technical and Vocational Training released this year’s results for the Bahamas Junior Certificate (BJC) and the Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) examinations on Thursday.

In the BJCs 38.8% of students who took at least five exams passed with a C or above. This is an increase from last year’s 37%. The number of students who achieved a D or above fell from 54% in 2024 to 52.7% this year.

Students who passed at least five BGCSEs with C or above stood at 37.2% a slight increase from 37% in 2024.

Education minister, the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin attributed the results partially to the impact of the COVID pandemic. “The research globally shows learning loss. But what we are seeing in these results is resiliency cause our children are showing up, they’re taking the examinations and we are on the route to recovery.”

Hanna Martin also highlighted some of the areas where the results showed weaknesses. She said, “clearly, we’ve learned from these results there are still areas that we have to work on in our student population. The ministry is tracking, monitoring and analyzing these national results and we’re also looking at global trends in similar exams and we see some parallels.”

According to the minister, the education ministry has implemented strategies to enhance the well being of students. She said focus has been placed on literacy and numeracy.
