$5.6 Million Grant Signed To Support Healthcare Infrastructure

Bahamian Media News:

Minister of Economic Affairs, Sen. Hon. Michael Halkitis signed a grant on behalf of the government with the Inter American Development Bank (IDB) to support healthcare infrastructure.

At the signing event Minister Halkitis said, “the resources from this grant initiative will be applied to construction, rehabilitation and retrofitting of clinics in the family islands. In addition, consideration is being given to purchasing ambulances for selected islands. On behalf of the Minister of Finance, the government and people of The Bahamas I express gratitude to the IDB and to the European Union for this initiative. I am advised that the existing IDB investor operation is progressing well in its execution towards achieving the project objectives. I have no doubt that this new injection of resources will enhance ongoing undertakings in a project that is deemed critical to the primary health and the socio economic well being of The Bahamas.”

Signing on behalf of the IDB was Country Representative Daniela Carrera-Marquis.
