Government officials led by Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis traveled to Mangrove Cay, Andros on Wednesday where a groundbreaking ceremony was held for a clinic that will be constructed there.
Mr. Davis told those in attendance at the ceremony, “this clinic will be a symbol of our government’s commitment to ensuring that no Bahamian is left behind when it comes to health care.”
Also on hand was Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville who outlined some of the medical services that well be available once the facility is complete. He said, “the facility will offer a wide cross section of services including laboratory, X-Ray, ultrasound, telemedicine and other IT platforms.”
The Minister also revealed that government intends to renovate all the clinics throughout the Family Islands and construct new clinics. He also said that Andros is set to receive more ambulances in a matter of weeks.
For his part, Member of Parliament for Mangrove Cay, Central and South Andros, the Hon. Leon Lundy said the new clinic will serve as beacon of hope bringing critical medical services closer to home.
