The Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador, the Hon. Philip Davis traveled to Cat Island where he addressed the Cat Island Business Outlook event on Thursday.
Davis spoke of the various projects in the works for the island inclusive of a golf resort that broke ground in 2009. He said, “the developers have recently reapplied to my government with a scaled down, redesigned proposal. That new proposal for the Cat Island partners $160,450,000 mixed use golf resort, residential and marina project at the PGA Village in southeast Cat Island has received government approval.”
Davis continued saying, “phase one is slated to include the construction of 125 single family residential lots, 11.6 acres multi family residential pads, 9 holes of the original Rees Jones golf design.”
Road Improvement and other development work are also planned for Cat Island. The Cat Island Development Company Ltd. will be constructing and repairing 56 miles of road and 95 miles of water mains. A&M Construction has been contracted to build a new airport in New Bight and Knowles Construction and Development Company will be building a new airport building in Arthur’s Town.
