BAIC Hosting Perfume Making Workshop

Bahamian Media News:

The Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) held a workshop for entrepreneurs in perfume making last week.

Aromatologist Edwin Bruce who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Prince O’ Bruce in Jamaica conducted the workshop. He said, “they want to know about how to harmonize the different oils, of course, and to take it in a direction that speaks to your DNA. Now one of the things that I’ll be emphasizing this evening is having an individual formulation, something that speaks to you.”

Executive Chairman of BAIC, the Hon. Leroy Major was also at the event. He said, “last year, right, I was talking about the cascarilla and someone mentioned to me that the cascarilla that we grow here in The Bahamas that it is the component for fragrance and its wanted all over the world. And so I decided, you know something, since we have the cascarilla here, let us start a perfume industry in The Bahamas. And so we have the right person who is here to show us exactly what we need to do to get this started.”

The products made are set to be featured in a trade show to be held later this month.
