Former Bahamian track athlete, Alexis Gray is now pursuing a career in professional wrestling as Kaylia Capri. Gray shared how she got started in the new profession in a recent interview with ZNS Total Sports.
Gray said, “I was sitting up at home during COVID. I was still in school at Texas Southern University in Houston. I pretty much got this DM, right, from WWE recruit and I was like, okay, this got to be fake but I still signed up anyway. So I signed up, a couple months went by, they reached out to me and said hey we want to offer you a try out. It was in Dallas at the time, it was pretty easy to get there so I said you know what, let me go see what they’re all about.”
Gray was signed to WWE until she was released in September 2023. She was then picked up by Women Of Wrestling (WOW) based in Los Angeles, California.
Gray says the transition from track and field to wrestling was easy. “It was pretty easy transitioning over especially cause I felt like I have a lot more freedom in wrestling, It wrestling, its no specifics. You can move how you want move, talk how you want talk, look how you want look and it kind of make it easier to mesh right in. I think the struggle for me was to learn the production side of things I think that was the hardest part for me but other than that I think I blended in quite well and everybody around me could agree.”
The budding wrestler says she is currently concentrating on expanding her brand and traveling.
