Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Sen. Hon. Ryan Pinder gave an update on the ongoing Pinewood Gardens land dispute while making an intervention in the Senate on Monday.
Pinder said, “we have delivered sixty six (66) conveyances to Arawak Homes for lots that have been properly vetted, identified, plotted and in conformance with the settlement agreement that was in place. Of those we have received back endorsed by Arawak Homes, sixteen (16) conveyances completed. Those sixteen conveyances then had to go to Inland Revenue for a real property tax assessment number because they were replotted lots. And so we’re creating new lot boundaries and new lots within this mess.”
Arawak Homes and residents in the Pinewood community have been embroiled in a longstanding dispute for concerning ownership of the land which residents had purchased and constructed homes on.
