Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville recently gave an update on the government’s kidney transplant program while addressing the possibilities that will become available with the construction of the new hospital in New Providence.
Darville said, “kidney transplant is very much on its way and all the economic benefits and medical benefits for a transplant particularly live donor is clear. And so we’re gonna start our transplant program very shortly where individuals who are suffering from dialysis will be able to receive a transplant and have a new lease on life.”
The Minister also spoke to government’s plans to place a lab on every island in the country. “We are committed to this in this term in office and we’re committed to it because it has to be incorporated into our telemedicine program. Thirty one of our clinics by way of BTC have already have high speed internet connectivity to launch our telemedicine program and our doctors will be trained.”
The new hospital will be located on New Providence Highway.
