Minister of Health and Wellness, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville led a delegation to Geneva, Switzerland where they are attending the 77th World Health Assembly.
Darville chaired a plenary session on the use of drones to enhance healthcare delivery services in countries like The Bahamas. Darville said, “Countries like Ghana is utilizing drone technology for supplies of medications. I thought it was interesting. Other countries are doing some new things where they’re not relying so much on nurses but using patient care technicians to be able to assist nurses to do much community based initiatives which I believe is very important. So as we’re explaining our situation, we’re also learning from the world and for them to demonstrate how they’re improvising trying to find ways to provide services in the midst of shortages of healthcare professionals is very unique. And I believe we need to be innovative and follow suit as well.”
The 2024 World Health Assembly ends June 1st.
