The government of The Bahamas released a green paper on corporate income tax for public consultation on May 18th. The Attorney General addressed the topic while speaking at the 2023 Financial Services Week Conference.

Sen. Hon. Ryan Pinder said, “once we are able to have the consultation period, receive feedback and analysis and then study it we then proceed to a white paper, which the white paper prescribes the policy decision of the government and lays out the methodology of implementation both by way of legislation, administration and education.”

Pinder also noted, “so we anticipate doing a very detailed consultation exercise for the general public over the summer. In which we will hold different town meetings, technical analysis just so everybody is comfortable with understanding what is in the paper and can have enough knowledge and basis to be able to do their own analysis and provide the feedback that is necessary.”

The consultation period has been extended to August 2023.
