Bishop Simeon Hall On Cannabis Legislation

Bahamian Media News:

Former Co-Chair of the Bahamas National Commission on Marijuana, Bishop Simeon Hall expressed his support for the Cannabis legislation that has now passed in both houses of Parliament.

Bishop Hall spoke with ZNS News on Thursday saying, “the government of The Bahamas is saying some people need this herb as an antidote to their malady, their physical malady. I’ve never tried it and I have one kidney. I go to Jamaica in two weeks time and I’m thinking about exploring it. I’m not ashamed. Can we be honest?”

The former Senior Pastor of the New Covenant Baptist Church says many Bahamians use marijuana for medicinal purposes. “There are about 5000 Bahamians who are under doctors watch and use marijuana. But also I think it is Christian that the government will expunge the records of these young black boys who were found with a lil bag of marijuana. The person shouldn’t have to go to jail, get a criminal record, can’t find work and if we’re going talk about being Christian we must make our Christianity pragmatic.”

The Bahamas Christian Council has expressed their support for medical Cannabis but object to the decriminalization of small amounts of Cannabis.
