Police are investigating the death of a 44 year old woman. The incident occurred in a home on Homestead Street on Tuesday morning.

Officer In Charge of Grove Police Station, Chief Superintendent Dwight Smith was on the scene where he briefed reporters. He said, “sometime around 11:30 this morning police control room received a call from a male who requested the assistance of EMS and also the police. They responded to a residence just off Homestead Street. On arrival there they met a female who appeared to have some injuries to the upper body. The EMS made a vital sign check of the female and find that she was unresponsive.

According to the victim’s sister, Viola Richardson, the victim Theresa Knowles had reconnected with the man who is believed to have caused her death after a break in their approximately 20 year long relationship. “When I look I see him come to my house this week and from Saturday he driving her car.” Gibson then pointed out the vehicle,” she said.

She added, “my husband say to me, he say, Ola not good, not good. I say I can’t say nothing, I say they must be know what they doin’ and we leave it alone.”

Richardson sought out her sister when she was informed that Knowles had not turned up for work. “I came through here, I saw the car, I saw the truck. I say Jesus.”

Also on the scene was Assistance Commissioner of Police, Chadwick Hanna who appealed to the public to seek help if experience domestic violence in their relationships. He said, “everybody may have a challenge in their relationship from time to time but we don’t want those challenges to cause you to make a mistake that you may regret. So we encourage members of the public even if you don’t feel comfortable reaching out to the Crisis Center maybe just talking to a friend or family member or local clergymen may help because we don’t want incidents like this or any other potential domestic violence incident to occur.”

A 51 year old man is assisting police with their investigation.
