A man was shot and killed on Francis Street and Armbrister Avenue in the Fox Hill community on Wednesday. He was identified as 34 year old Oral Roberts.

The visibly distraught mother of the victim, Mispah Roberts was on the scene where she spoke with reporters. She said her son was at police headquarters four days before his death. “He saw it on Facebook where they were putting things to these different location where these guys is with the ankle monitor bracelet. He called his lawyer and he sent the footage and thing to his lawyer. You had my child thriving through court from last year November. You ga tell me yall ain’ have a voluntary bill of indictment to say why he through court. What y’all pick up my child to carry him to police headquarters for to question him?”

Roberts also recounted the final moments she shared with her son. She said, “me and him sit on the porch, he gone and he buy me a Subway sandwich. He came back and me and him was sitting on the porch eating some mixed nuts and when I hear the gunshots I run in the house. I say Oral you hear all dem gunshots. When I come out Oral in the road dead.”

Also on the scene was Officer In Charge of the Eastern District, Assistance Commissioner of Police, Roger Thompson who also spoke with reporters about the incident. He said, “the police would have received a Shotspotter alert. During this period of time we already had officers who were on the road. I am able to say that he was fitted with an EMD and that is the extent of the information that we have at this stage.”

According to reports Oral Roberts was allegedly involved in a November 2023 heist of an armored truck along with Michael Fox Jr. also deceased. Mispah Roberts is calling for a full investigation of her son’s death as a government issued vehicle was allegedly involved in the incident.
