LCIS Alleged Safety Threat

Bahamian Media News:

A press conference was held on Wednesday where Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dr. Chaswell Hanna addressed social media threats made against Lyford Cay International School (LCIS) by one of its students.

According to Hanna it was reported that a 9th grade student intended to injure schoolmates with a gun.  Hanna assured that no student was in any danger due to the alleged threats. “There’s no firearms involved contrary to what you may see floating around.  The long and short of it, as much as I could say is, it’s just inappropriate social media banter.  Some of it involving some Google search photographs of some weapons but there was no actual weapon.”

LCIS Head Of School,  Audrius Barzdukas also released a statement to stakeholders on the matter sharing details of the incident and assuring that the matter is under investigation.  He said, “we continue to investigate the matter.  As shared previously, our highest priority is the safety of our students, teachers and extended learning community.”
