FNM Grades PLP

Bahamian Media News:

The Free National Movement (FNM) held a press conference on Tuesday where they graded the Progressive Liberal Party’s (PLP) performance in government since its election win at the polls in 2021.

FNM Leader and Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Pintard told reporters that the PLP has not done enough.  He said, “we’ve been out of office for three years, no Dorian, no pandemic, and yet this government continues to talk about the FNM when we were in government.  And yet they cannot explain what monumental things they have done having not had to face a Dorian or a pandemic.”

Pintard added of the Davis administration, “they’re not on the same page.  They are unfortunately having a fair amount of chaos internally  and so the Prime Minister and the Chairman as they often do, they are sharing conflicting information with the public.”

The Opposition Leader also warned that the government’s ongoing dispute with the Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA) can affect investor confidence.  “So how much more so would the fight between the government and GBPA, the same families, damage the confidence of persons in Grand Bahama and Freeport.  And depending on how the government engages in the fight they send a broader message to investors looking at the rest of The Bahamas as a place where they may come and invest.  All we’re saying to the Prime Minister is be responsible.  We are prepared to stand with you and hold the shareholders to account, shareholders who we are on record as saying they need to broaden the amount of Bahamians who are shareholders in GBPA and the related companies.  We need more licensees to be shareholders and Bahamians from wherever in The Bahamas to be shareholders.”

September 16th marked the third anniversary since the last general elections were held.
