St. Agnes Street Festival

St. Agnes Street Festival

Bahamian Media News:

St. Agnes Anglican Church hosted a street festival over the weekend.  The first for the church since 2019.

St. Agnes Rector, Father Keith Cartwright spoke with ZNS News from the site of the festivities.  He said,  “we have about 50 stalls and we have entertainment throughout the day and the evening.  So we’re gonna to be here until midnight.  We have a grand raffle and the first prize is $10,000  and that will be drawn at 9pm this evening. But it is an opportunity for the community to get together.  Its an opportunity to get together to work towards a project and that proceeds from this event will go towards the less fortunate, first of all, and also to aid in restoring so of St. Agnes historic buildings.”

The church’s community outreach budget exceeds $200,000.  Father Cartwright encouraged other churches to do more in the community.  “We are in the heart of Grant’s Town and we are in the middle of just about everything so we are challenged in that area but know that if everybody works together, everybody comes and does a little bit we can achieve a whole lot.  But we’re very, very proud of our mission and ministries that we’ve been doing so far and we just want to encourage other churches too to come and let us do even more because I believe if we have more churches doing social outreach then every person will be able to have a meal no matter which day of the week it is.”

According to Father Cartwright 2025 will mark the 180th anniversary of St. Agnes church.  The church plans to start the year with a string of activities until the July 12th.
