Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey contributed to debate on the Urban Renewal Authority Bill in the House Of Assembly this week.

Moxey told Parliamentarians of Urban Renewal, “it is a lifeline, a promise, a path to a better tomorrow for inner cities and a strategic intervention by this administration to resolve the longstanding urban decay that has plagued our nation.”

During her presentation Minister Moxey highlighted programs currently established on the island of Grand Bahama that will be enhanced by the Urban Renewal Authority like the Collab Partnership for Development Unit.  “Through this unit the Beautiful Grand Bahama Program was created employing over 500 individuals since its inception putting bread on the tables, decreasing crime and even causing gangs to lay down their weapons and work together.  Some of these individuals were involved in the Trip Circle Restoration Village Project which restored 13 dilapidated, abandoned former police homes to make them transition homes for those in need.”

Moxey also give an update on the transformation of the Garden Village area.
