A service celebrating the life of veteran journalist and talk show host, Darold Miller was held at Bahamas Faith Ministries on Thursday. A cross section of people including past and present government officials and former colleagues gathered to pay tribute to Miller who was cremated prior to the service.
Former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie told attendees, “when we are called upon to speak to the contribution of someone who has done much for the many of us in our country we are reminded that we have an obligation to continue to work at giving honour where honour is due.”
Former Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis also paid tribute to Miller. During his remarks he extended condolences to the family on behalf of himself and his wife Patricia.
For his part, Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Fred Mitchell, himself a former journalist said, “the thing that I appreciated about Darold is that he created his brand and he carried that brand wherever he went.”
Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Pintard said, “Darold came from a fraternity of journalist during a period that carved out a space in our national psyche where the political and the religious voices were way too dominant.”
The message was delivered by Miller Pastor, Prophetess Dr. Shameka Morley of Anointed To Reign Kingdom Ministries. The church Darold Miller attended before his passing. She said, “Darold found himself like Nicodemus seeking to find rest for his soul like a thief in the night. What must I to do?”
Former Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham described Miller as a fitting role model for those who follow in his footsteps.
Darold Miller was 69.
