The ministries of Youth, Sports and Culture and Tourism, Investments, and Aviation continue to support the “Don’t Blink Home Run Derby in Paradise,” a baseball extravaganza in its seventh year.

Director of Sports Kelsey Johnson-Sills underscored what this growth means to Sports Tourism, and the overall product The Bahamas has to offer visitors and residents.

The “Don’t Blink Home Run Derby” has grown to become a true staple and fixture on the country’s sporting calendar. Each year, it brings together athletes, fans, and families from all walks of life to celebrate not only the spirit of competition but the camaraderie that sports naturally foster,” said the director on behalf of the Minister of Youth Sports and Culture the Hon. Mario Bowleg.
She was addressing a press conference held November 6, 2024 at Baha Mar Resort, which was announced as the new partner of the event scheduled for December 11-14, 2024. The main attraction will be staged on Saturday, December 14, on Montagu Beach.

“It is one of those events we all look forward to attending with great anticipation, knowing that it will deliver excitement, energy, and unforgettable moments,” she said.

In recent years, the “Don’t Blink Home Run Derby” has become a key highlight on the Sports Tourism calendar, with growing interest from international visitors and investors alike.
This event is also regarded as a testament to the dedication and hard work of those behind the scenes—the organizers, sponsors, volunteers, and countless others who contribute to its success year after year.
Bahamian professional baseball players and Co-founders of Don’t Blink Home Run Derby, Todd Isaacs, Jr., and Lucius Fox thanked sponsors, the Players Alliance as well as Minority Baseball Prospects for their contributions to the event.

Isaacs was thrilled to partner with the Baha Mar Resort in what he dubbed as the “Greatest Show on the Sand” continues to evolve.

“Today we are happy to announce our new partnership with Baha Mar and Grand Hyatt.  Together we will continue to revolutionize and make sure baseball in The Bahamas is experienced by our guests and fans that will grace our shores,” he said.

Robert ‘Sandy’ Sands, senior vice-president of the government and community relations at Baha Mar, said the resort was grateful to align with Don’t Blink Home Run Derby.

The baseball extravaganza, which is geared toward showcasing the best talents in baseball, will commence with a kid’s camp on December 11 at the Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium.

This year will also include a celebrity-studded golf tournament on Thursday, December 12 at the Royal Blue Golf Course at Baha Mar.

Other activities surrounding the event will be competitive showcases at the Andre Rodgers National Baseball Stadium, featuring local and international players.

Bahamian professional baseball players will go head-to-head against baseball players representing the world.
