In the wake of the discovery of the lifeless body of 12 year old Adriel Moxey, Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe was asked for comment on Thursday about the amount of young people being reported missing.
He said, “we have to be very concerned about every single young person in the country. As I just told the young men in this seminar by the Crisis Center and Rotary, they are all we have. We have to not let one of them be left behind and we have to seek to protect each and every one of them.”
Minister Munroe said parents are the first line of defense for their children. He advised parents, “if they are missing and its a child then police encourage parents after they’ve made check to make sure the child isn’t with another relative to if the child is missing please report as soon as possible to the police so that efforts can be started as soon as possible.”
He added, “children are inquisitive, children are adventurous. The job of the parent, of course, is to do all they can to protect them and the police are your willing partners with this. So as soon as you see something irregular, as soon as a child isn’t where he or she is supposed to be and you satisfy yourself that there is no explanation, the police are there to receive a report.”
