Abaco Chamber President Steps Down

Bahamian Media News:

President of the Abaco Chamber of Commerce, Daphne Miaoulis has announced that she will step down from the position on January 28th.

Miaoulis told ZNS News that she is definitely done serving on the Chamber and outlined her reasons.  She said, “I’m done due to frustration and feeling like my efforts are not providing the rewards or the fruits that I would like to see happen.  And also because of the apathy that our people seem to have that they just don’t care, their just gonna sit back and wait and let other people do whatever.”

The current chamber president is hopeful that new leadership can revive the organization.  “The chamber is an amazing opportunity for networking. First thing a foreigner does when they go into a foreign country, if they want to do business, they contact the local chamber.  I’m looking for a plumber.  I’m looking for an electrician. I want a builder, I want a florist.  The resource internationally is the chamber.”

Miaoulis said she has someone in mind for the position of chamber president and is hopeful that person will be successful in getting the position.  She said, “whether I am there or not I am always available for consultation, feedback, to bounce these off of,  I not running way.  I am still a member of this community.”

Daphne Miaoulis has served on the Abaco Chamber of Commerce for thirteen years.
