PM Opens Bahamas Business Outlook

Bahamian Media News:

Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis was the keynote speaker at the 2025 Bahamas Business Outlook event held at the Baha Mar Resort on Thursday.

The Prime Minister used the opportunity to reveal his administrations plans to assist local businesses.  He also highlighted some of the legacy issues in the Bahamian economy.  He said, “too much of our economy has historically been controlled by a small group of our society and our economic framework serve the interest of a few at the expense of the many.”

Mr. Davis also addressed the red tape involved in establishing a new business.  “It takes too long to open up a business.  It takes too long to access government services and let’s face it, it takes too long even to open a bank account.  I’ve heard the stories from entrepreneurs who have been caught in these delays.  What you see here is not just inefficiency, it’s a barrier to progress and I’ll tell you know.  It just cannot continue.”

The Prime Minister told the business and government leaders in attendance that no government can build a prosperous nation alone.  He said, “building the future we envision requires partnership, a partnership between government, business and the Bahamian people.  This is not about one administration or one sector carrying the weight.”

This year’s business outlook was held under the theme Prioritizing Inclusive, Sustainable Growth.
