Clear, Hold & Build Strategy Hits Carmichael

Bahamian Media News:

Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis along with other government officials were in the Carmichael Road area this week where they toured the work that has begun as part of the Clear, Hold & Build initiative.

Member of Parliament for Carmichael, the Hon. Keith Bell told reporters the initiative is all in an effort to reduce crime. He said, “we see some crime, we see issues of social ills and that like and all of these derelict properties. And so for us it is very significant in the sense that we want to see a reduction in criminal activities, social ills, the removal of derelict vehicles and of course the cleaning of these over grown and abandoned properties.”

The Clear, Hold and Build Initiative began in the Englerston constituency last year. The Member of Parliament for Englerston and Minister of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin was a part of the delegation in Carmichael. She spoke to the importance of good living conditions for children. “Children should not be surrounded by these symbols of deteriorated. They should by life, green, joy, this is how we improve quality of life.

According to officials crime in the Englerston community has decreased by 48% since the start of the initiative.
