Bahamian Media News:

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the University of The Bahamas and the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board on Monday. The agreement will result in funding for students of tourism related programs at the university.

Chief Executive Officer of the Nassau Paradise Island Promotions Board Joy Jibrilu attended a signing ceremony for the agreement and delivered remarks. She said, “we’re taking the momentous step in support of capacity building in tourism and hospitality in The Bahamas. Together with our industry partners the Paradise Island Tourism Development Association and the Cable Beach Resort Association have pledged to provide a total of $750,000 over the next five years to support deserving students in hospitality management and tourism studies at the University of The Bahamas.”

President of the University Erik Rolland said, “here in The Bahamas we’re very lucky, we have a lot of collaborating organizations, a lot of opportunities to give our students an experience. And what this grant is going to do for us is allow the students to get experiential courses and experiences while they’re studying.

The grant is named in honour of the late George Myers.
