A heads of agreement signing is scheduled for this Thursday that will usher in the redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Hotel property on Grand Bahama. It will join other major projects in various stages of development on the island.
Minister of Tourism, Investment and Aviation, the Hon. Chester Cooper recently shared his optimism about the rebound of the island’s economy. He told reporters, “not only will Grand Bahama be the fastest growing in air lift, in arrivals but will also be the fastest growing island in The Bahamas by way of cruise passengers. We’re seeing a $600 million investment in the Grand Bahama Shipyard, that’s underway, its happening. We see an additional billion dollars, a total of almost $3 billion we’re seeing in Grand Bahama. That’s cause for optimism and many of these are out of the pipeline or coming out of the pipeline. Celebration Key has been hiring now for a considerable period of time. Their moving around the island because they have difficulty finding enough employees, that’s positive, its optimistic.”
