Director of Aviation, Dr. Kenneth Romer recently provided an update on the construction of the South Bimini Airport.
Construction at the airport is expected to be completed in 2026. Dr. Romer said, “South Bimini terminal, on air side, we expect that to happen by Q4 of this year, December, or certainly by the first quarter in 2026.”
Thus far an apron expansion has been completed which has improved parking and taxi areas. “Bimini Airport Development Partners completed significant air side grading works. They’ve removed existing mounds and pounds and vegetation from both inside and round the fence line in Bimini. They’ve installed new precision approach path indicator lighting systems or PAPI systems and replaced the existing runway lighting in South Bimini.”
Construction of the terminal building has commenced along with freshwater and waste disposal utilities.
