Junkanoo fusion artist Plati Dread will debut the newest iteration of his popular band, Plati & the Naykid I. The debut will occur at the 25th annual Kingdor National Parkinson Foundation Ball on Saturday, June 28.
Plati promises that the event will be legendary and will usher in a new era in his life – one in which he has recommitted to the stage and “will never leave it again”
“Music is my passion and with this debut, I intend to never leave the stage again,” he said.
The Parkinson’s Charity Ball Gala will be taking place at the Atlantis Ballroom on Saturday evening under the theme: “Parkinson’s: Living with Purpose, Celebrating with Pride”. The cocktail hour begins at 6:45pm and dinner is at 7:45pm.
Plati & the Naykid I will be one of several sets of entertainment for the night, including TMF, formerly of Maze.
As a General Practitioner in Medicine, Dr Tyrone “Butch” Bartlett has given decades of service to the community, providing family comprehensive family healthcare. His dedication to his profession was his main priority, and while he fully appreciates the path he took and the lives he has touched, he has chosen to give more time to his creative abilities.
His medical practice will continue, but Plati & the Naykid I will be performing more consistently, bringing new age music with a Junkanoo flair to fans throughout the country and beyond.
It has been a decade since Plati & the Naykid I performed on stage. In 2015, the band made it to the finals of the Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival Song Competition with the hit “Junkanoo Rock” which is still played at the Lynden Pindling International Airport sound system today for the enjoyment of locals and foreign visitors.
The Gala Ball serves as a vital platform to raise awareness and secure essential support for the Foundation’s initiatives, which are dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with Parkinson’s disease, including their families and caregivers.
