The Beat Retreat marks the beginning of 52nd Independence celebrations

Bahamian Media News:

As The Bahamas marks its 52nd year of Independence, the Beat Retreat heralds the start of official anniversary celebrations.   The theme this year is ‘Together We Rise.’

Amidst the pageantry in Rawson Square, photos show the Governor General, Her Excellency the Most Hon. Dame Cynthia Pratt; Acting Prime Minister the Hon. Chester Cooper and Mrs. Cooper; Chief Justice Sir Ian Winder and Mrs. Winder; Mrs. Ann Marie Davis, wife of Prime Minister the Hon. Philip Davis; Leader of the Opposition the Hon. Michael Pintard; and other dignitaries.

Featured among the entertainment were bands of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, and the Bahamas Department of Corrections.  Enjoying the fanfare, on Sunday evening, June 29, were large crowds.
