Member of Parliament for West Grand Bahama and Bimini, the Hon. Kingsley Smith weighed in on the ratification of Omar Isaacs as the Free National Movement’s (FNM) candidate for West Grand Bahama and Bimini on Tuesday.
Smith criticized the FNM for overlooking potential candidates like Bishop Ricardo Grant and Daquan Swain who both ran in the by election held for the seat in November 2023. He said, “you reject those but somebody who is not known and who is questioning the efforts that myself along with the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) and the Prime Minister is making in West Grand Bahama and Bimini. The evidence is there.”
The West Grand Bahama and Bimini MP also criticized Isaacs for questioning the ongoing and upcoming projects in the constituency. “You want to question the junior high that was started under the PLP but sat for four years and four months under the Free National Movement. Eight Mile Rock government complex, the George Weech Complex all sat and was not touched by the Free National Movement in four years an four months and that’s why I would have said that the aspirant candidate for the Free National Movement needs to know the history of West Grand Bahama and Bimini,” Smith said.
Smith also expressed his confidence that he will remain the representative after the next general election.
