Bahamian Media News:

The government signed an agreement with Concorde Wilshire for the redevelopment of the Grand Lucayan Hotel in May on the island of Grand Bahama.

Concorde Wilshire Bahamas Managing Partner, Adam Petrillo recently spoke with ZNS News about the $827 million project. He said, “this is a very big project. It’s a complicated project. It has a lot of moving pieces. It involves the cruise industry, the hospitality industry, the gaming industry. Our next door property has marinas and other development properties and of course the golf course. So all those pieces are coming together sort of simultaneously with different brands different players that are going to be part of this large puzzle.”

Petrillo also spoke of his affinity for The Bahamas and its people. “The Bahamian people, when I first met them was 1967. I was eight years old. I was flown over on a sea plane to Walker’s Cay. An amazing trip because it was actually President Nixon was on that flight just about a year before he was elected and he was a friend of the owner of the island so I really had a special trip. But the real special part of my initiation into The Bahamas was the wonderful people of Grand Cay who took me under their wing and literally taught me how to dive, spearfish, conch and then many years later make a great Bahama Mama.”

Petrillo also said that redevelopment of the Grand Bahama International Airport is critical to moving the project forward.
