Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Ginger Moxey traveled to Grenada recently where she addressed the 2025 Africa Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum.
During her presentation the minister highlighted plans for the Afro-Caribbean Marketplace and Logistics Center to be constructed on Grand Bahama. A partnership between the government of The Bahamas and the AFREXIM Bank.
The minister also spoke of some of the features of the future landmark. “The marketplace will also serve as a conduit for B2B opportunities, it will become a promotional office as well has foreign affairs office for many countries that do not have a presence in the region. With Grand Bahama’s over $3 billion in recent investment, much of this in the tourism sector, and we expect to have over six million annual visitors to Grand Bahama by 2028,” Moxey said.
The gathering was told that it is envisioned that the Afro-Caribbean Marketplace will become the gateway to the Caribbean and become the signature destination in the world for a taste of Africa and the Caribbean.
The trade advantages and opportunities were also highlighted. Moxey said, “this is the real opportunity here. Africa’s permanent footprint in the region with an attractive destination that is destined to become one of the most exciting shopping and distribution hubs in the world. This marketplace will not only boost economic growth but also strengthen the bonds of friendship and cultural understanding between our nations.”
