Tambearly opens new nursery as school celebrates 40th anniversary

Bahamian Media News:

Tambearly International School has expanded its offerings with the launch of a nursery programme serving children as young as six months, coinciding with the school’s 40th anniversary in western New Providence.

The new “Tambearly Toddlers” nursery, which opened in September 2025, welcomes children from six months to three years old. Located near Sandyport, the facility provides families in the west with flexible early childhood care and education close to home.

The programme is led by Michelle Olivier and Patrice Brown. Olivier, originally from South Africa, holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a postgraduate certificate in education, and is a certified play therapist. Brown brings more than 20 years of experience in early childhood development and holds a bachelor’s degree in the field.

The nursery follows a play-based philosophy in small groups, focusing on social-emotional growth, early language play, and sensory activities in a safe, nurturing environment. Daily routines balance structure and exploration, helping children gain confidence and independence during their earliest years.

Programme leader Michelle Olivier said, “We deeply value the importance of connecting with each child, as these connections build trust and create a sense of safety. When children feel seen and understood, they are more confident to explore and take risks. Every moment of exploration and new discovery is an opportunity to foster growth, and being part of that journey is an honor.”

Tambearly Toddlers offers full-day, half-day, and part-day enrolment options to accommodate working parents. School officials said the nursery was launched in response to the growing need for reliable, high-quality childcare in western New Providence.

Lead teacher Patrice Brown added, “Opening a daycare that celebrates play-based learning and
supports early development is a dream come true. I look forward to partnering with families to
make learning fun and meaningful, while creating a strong foundation where play sparks growth
and families feel right at home. In doing so, we honor the vision of Tambearly’s late founder, Mrs. Alice Langford: ‘For the Love of Learning and the Pursuit of Excellence’ for every child.”

The opening of Tambearly Toddlers extends the school’s mission to provide high-quality education for local families from the earliest years through graduation, marking a new chapter in its 40-year legacy.

Applications are now open. Families may apply by emailing tambearly@tambearlyschool.org, and updates are available on Facebook at “Tambearly International School Toddlers.”
