Bahamas News & Emergencies App Launched to Deliver News Updates and Emergency Alerts

Bahamian Media News:

The Bahamas News & Emergencies App (BNEA), a groundbreaking mobile platform dedicated to transforming how Bahamian citizens receive, share and act on critical information was officially launched at Breezes Resort on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Designed with the nation’s vibrant communities in mind, BNEA delivers-up-to-the-minute news, emergency alerts, weather warnings and government advisories in one-easy-to-use digital hub.

Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Wayde Watson said, “The Bahamas News & Emergencies App is a forward-thinking digital platform designed to keep Bahamian citizens informed, alert and engaged.

“From real time news updates to emergency alerts and interactive polls, the BNEA empowers every registered citizen to participate in shaping a safer, smarter and more connected Bahamas.”

The Parliamentary Secretary, said the App is part of this government administration’s mandate that has been brought to fruition.

He said statistics have revealed that using Apps increases the revenue in any organization by some 30 per cent, because the normal media channels today are no longer as effective when it comes to the cadre of people who use technology today.

“They want it in their hands and they want it at their fingertips on a consistent basis.”

Mr. Watson added that the commercial side of this App will allow the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas and Bahamas Information Services to garner advertisement from commercial entities and have those ads published on the BNEA App.

“Cellphones are in the hands of almost everyone in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, so I am proud of what we have built for the Bahamian people and I urge all Bahamians to get registered today.”

He said, “In a world where timely information is crucial, this tool will empower our people ensuring that you are informed no matter the circumstances or situation.”

Mr. Watson thanked the key stakeholders in the App’s development including, the Department of Information and Communication Technologies (DICT), the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas, Bahamas Information Services, the Disaster Risk Management Authority, the Royal Bahamas Police Force, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

He also thanked the App’s Developers, CodeAegis Private Limited.  The company, introduced in 2016, is a trusted Web and Mobile App Development Company.  It helps businesses to get high-quality and feature-rich apps.  The company was represented by Full Stock Developer, Pratham Singhal; Founder & CEO, Ruchin Singhal and Co-CEO, Sashki Aggarwal.

The App is featured on iPhone.

Members of the public with Android phones can download the App from its current location on the Government of The Bahamas website — www.bahamas.gov.bs — under ‘Quick Useful Links’.
