Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis along with Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Chester Cooper and other government officials traveled to several of the islands on Thursday to assess the impact of Hurricane Melissa.

According to reports from people on the ground there was no significant damage. Mr. Cooper told reporters, “we were very pleased with the responses that we have gotten from the ground in these islands. People appreciated the efforts made by the DRM, the evacuations done understanding that the logistical situation was significant and challenging. But generally what we found on the ground was gratefulness to God for spearing us from what could have been a major catastrophe and of course grateful to the DRM for their overall management.”
