An elderly couple was found unresponsive in their home on Iguana Way off Carmichael Road on Saturday. Relatives made the gruesome discovery while conducting a wellness check on the couple after not being able to reach them for about one week.
The couple has been identified as William Pearce and Theresa Edwards. Edwards’ grandson, Brenville Stubbs called police after speaking with his aunt. When Stubbs arrived at the home of his grandmother he broke a window to gain entry after attempts by his cousin failed.
Stubbs provided details to reporters at the scene. He said, “I open the door, quickly open the door, and my cousin and my mom also they came in checked the left side of the residence which was the kitchen, it wasn’t no one in there. I followed the scent. My mom was the first one in front of me. I came behind her. We open the two doors which was on the right hand side. When she opened the last door she discovered my grammy cover up in a blanket.”
Edwards’ husband was also found unresponsive in the home. Stubbs said, “when everybody was asking where the husband, I was still shock too. I was like where is the husband. So I started thinking in a different way. So I decided to gone back inside. When I went back inside my cousin said hey the bathroom door is closed. So when I went inside I opened the door and I discovered he was on the bathroom toilet.”
According to police on the scene no foul play is suspected. Fire services conducted checks on the home and found no evidence of a gas or air conditioning leak. The bodies of the couple will undergo autopsies to determine their causes of death.
