The government released more than three thousand documents related to its energy reform initiative on Thursday. This came after transparency criticism was levied by members of the opposition who asserted that certain agreements made by the government in its energy reform push were not tabled in the House of Assembly.
A statement released by the Office of the Prime Minister along with the documents said, “in keeping with its commitment to transparency and accountability, the Government has made public 3,260 pages of agreements that set out the legal, financial, operational and regulatory framework for the modernization of the country’s electricity transmission system and broader reform of the sector.”
The release also said, “by releasing the full 3,260 pages of agreements, the Government affirms that major national undertakings must be subject to public scrutiny. Transparency strengthens confidence, and confidence strengthens reform.”
