The Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation (BMOTIA) proudly unveils the seventh annual Long Island Mutton Festival, two days of vibrant culture, Bahamian flavor and unforgettable community spirit. Set for 20–21 March 2026 at the iconic Salt Pond Cultural Site, this year’s festival promises an even bigger celebration of Long Island’s beloved mutton tradition.

“The Mutton Festival, now in its seventh year, has become a vibrant cornerstone of the Long Island community, uniting residents and visitors for two exhilarating days of culture and celebration,” said The Honourable I. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investments & Aviation. “Culinary tourism shines a spotlight on the extraordinary flavors and traditions of The Bahamas, and this festival brings well-deserved attention to Long Island’s iconic mutton-inspired dishes.”

Latia Duncombe, Director General, highlighted the festival’s growing momentum and its vital place on Long Island’s annual calendar. “The Mutton Festival has become one of the Ministry of Tourism’s standout signature events, gaining strength and excitement year after year,” she said. “For two full days, visitors can dive into nonstop family fun, games, activities, authentic Bahamian cuisine, refreshing local drinks and vibrant live entertainment, all coming together to create an unforgettable cultural experience.”

The festival comes to life as Long Island’s talented vendors showcase their culinary creativity, serving up mutton in imaginative and mouthwatering ways. The excitement begins on Friday, 20 March from 5 p.m. to midnight, and continues on Saturday, 21 March from 3 p.m. straight through to 12 a.m. Two full days of non-stop flavor and festivities.

Attendees can look forward to thrilling live culinary showcases from Chef Mario Adderley of the University of The Bahamas and Long Island’s own Chef Andrew Fox, as they bring bold flavors and creative mutton dishes to life. The excitement continues with dine-around experiences at local restaurants and captivating mixology demonstrations by award-winning mixologist Marv Cunningham.

This year’s festival features an exciting lineup of Bahamian musicians and local bands, including electrifying performances by Puzzle, Funky D, the High Tide Band and the Royal Bahamas Police Force Band. Adding even more excitement is the crowd-favorite Battle of the School Bands Competition, set to be one of the festival’s most anticipated showdowns.

Beyond the music, festival-goers can dive into a vibrant mix of cultural experiences and family-friendly fun. From the plaiting of the maypole to an action-packed kids’ corner, a charming petting zoo, and a spirited livestock competition, there’s something to delight every age. Visitors can also explore unique creations from Arts & Crafts vendors and browse fresh, local offerings at the bustling farmer’s market, adding even more opportunities to discover, taste and enjoy the best of Long Island culture.
