Parliamentarians spoke to reporters about whether or not they have submitted their financial disclosures for the year.
Minister of National Security, the Hon. Wayne Munroe revealed that he sought an extension. He said, “you have to declare by 1st of March unless you’re given an extension of thirty days, which I got. If you are a serving member or if you cease to be a member within that given time or if you’re a permanent secretary or certain other public service positions.”
Prime Minister, the Hon. Philip Davis and Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Chester Cooper both indicated that they have disclosed. The deadline for submission was also met by the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin, the Hon. Jobeth Coleby-Davis and Member of Parliament for Central Grand Bahama, Iram Lewis and Member of Parliament for St. Barnabas, Shanendon Cartwright. The Member of Parliament for Golden Isles, Darron Pickstock also indicated by giving the thumbs up that he has filed his disclosure.
While on his feet in the House of Assembly, former Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis has called for investigations into Parliamentarians whose finances have substantially increased while in office. While on his feet in the House of Assembly Minnis said, “this year my declaration has gone up. If we were a country of laws and enforcement they should have called me in. They should have called me in and questioned me as to how, explain how my assets has increased by millions of dollars.”
National security minister, Wayne Munroe responded to Dr. Minnis’ comments outside of the House of Assembly. He said, “what he perhaps does not know is that there investigative powers to have a look at your bank account without you knowing. So I don’t know how he know that there is no investigation and that’s to make an assumption that I would not make.”
According to reports members of the Free National Movement have disclosed.
