Opposition Addresses Fuel Concerns

Bahamian Media News:

Leader of the Opposition, Michael Pintard shared his concerns about the imminent price increases for oil and gas due to the current conflict in the Middle East on Tuesday.

Pintard suggested that the government should implement the opposition’s proposal of capping value added tax on fuel. He told ZNS News, “we have indicated to government that we believe that they ought to cap the revenue that government receives. We believe its a revenue neutral recommendation because we’re not asking the government to cut its revenue. We’re just saying when the price goes up you just cap it at what you have projected you would be earning so that you don’t benefit on the backs of Bahamians who would have added costs at the pump.”
