Bahamian Media News:

Member of Parliament Elect for Marco City and Free National Movement Leader, Michael Pintard received his instrument of appointment as Leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition at a ceremony held at Government House on Monday.

During his acceptance remarks Pintard said his party respects the outcome of the election and the will of the people. He said. “I pledge to honour their trust and uphold the constitution of The Bahamas as the Leader of the Opposition. I also pledge to the Bahamian people to be robust steadfast in my constitutional responsibilities. We will do our job opposing when necessary and supporting when appropriate.”

The Opposition Leader went further stating, “we will be diligent and forceful in insisting on the practice of good governance which includes the two most critical tenets transparency and accountability by the government. Beyond transparency and accountability, we will press forcefully for fairness, honesty, integrity, fiscal responsibility and economic justice in the use of public resources.”

The FNM won 8 of the 41 seats contested in the 2026 general election held on May 12th. Pintard said too many Bahamians have become disconnected from the political process and skeptical of their leaders. “I’m confident that our eight members: James Leo Ferguson, Lincoln Deal II, Frazette Gibson, Dr. Andre Rollins, Michela Barnett-Ellis, Adrian White and James Kwasi Thompson, I confident, will all make the Bahamian people proud through their professionalism.”

Pintard also urged Bahamians to move forward together in the interest of national development.
