Holy Cross Anglican Church will celebrate 60 years of faith, ministry, service and community impact with a special Homecoming Weekend from Friday, May 22 to Sunday, May 24, 2026.
Held under the theme “Celebrating the Legacy of The Cross: Our Faith. Our Foundation. Our Future,” the weekend invites parishioners, former members, families, community partners and all who have been impacted by the ministry of Holy Cross to return “Back to the Cross” for worship, reflection, thanksgiving and celebration.
The anniversary weekend begins on Friday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. with A Glorious Evening of Music,
featuring the Holy Cross Praise Team & Choir, Nehemiah Hield, the National Children’s Choir, the
Nassau City Singers, Bel Canto Singers, Candace Bostwick, Allison M. Rolle, Nikita Thompson, Dr.
Dion Cunningham and more.
The celebration continues on Sunday, May 24 at 9:00 a.m. with the official Back to the Cross 60th
Anniversary Celebration Service at Holy Cross Anglican Church, Highbury Park. The Right Reverend
and Right Honourable Laish Boyd, Bishop of the Diocese of The Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands, will be in attendance, adding special significance to the occasion as a former priest who
served at Holy Cross before being called to the episcopate.
Since its first Mass on May 22, 1966, Holy Cross has grown into a vibrant spiritual home and centre for
ministry, youth development, service, outreach and community partnership. Over the past six decades, the parish has played a meaningful role in the life of the Diocese and the wider community, with a strong
legacy in renewal ministry, lay leadership and service organisations.
Reflecting on the milestone, The Reverend Dr. Ethan P.J. Ferguson, Rector of Holy Cross Anglican
Church, said: “Holy Cross is a mature and maturing church, mission-oriented and deeply rooted in ministry, service and outreach. As we celebrate the legacy of the Cross, we are really celebrating the legacy of the Gospel, which is our faith, our foundation and our future.”
