BTC’s Junior Achievement company, BTC B.E.T (Building Economic Thinkers), has secured top honours at this year’s annual Junior Achievement Awards ceremony, earning both the prestigious Company of the Year and Product of the Year titles.

The award-winning team developed and customized an all-Bahamian cookbook, that already surpassed 500 copies sold, demonstrating strong market demand and cultural resonance.

In addition to their top awards, BTC B.E.T. also claimed victory at the annual Open House competition with a dynamic “Cooking Show Experience,” where students showcased their talents as chefs, hosts, producers, and camera operators, bringing their product to life through an immersive presentation.

BTC’s Executive Senior Manager for Communications, Indira Collie praised the team’s accomplishments.

Collie said, “We are extremely proud of our Junior Achievers, and we are committed to inspiring the next generation for success. Our team members have consistently invested their time and expertise to ensure students gain a solid foundation in business fundamentals. The overwhelming demand for their product which required additional production runs, speaks volumes to their innovation and expertise.”

The cookbook blends culinary creativity with education, featuring lessons on Bahamian national symbols, culture, leadership, the Family Islands, and engaging fun facts, offering readers both knowledge and entertainment.

Executive Advisor Kenton Lightbourne and BTC’s Finance team member added, “Our continued success is a powerful reflection of youth innovation, cultural pride, and entrepreneurial drive. These achievements prove that when young people are empowered with the right tools and guidance, they can produce exceptional, award-winning results.”

This milestone builds on BTC’s continued success in the Junior Achievement program. Last year, BTC achievers also captured the Product of the Year award with a customized all-Bahamian puzzle created for learners of all ages.

BTC B.E.T. President Gordia Gray reflected on the journey, stating “I am incredibly proud of our team. From the beginning, we committed ourselves to excellence through hard work, passion, and collaboration. Despite challenges along the way, we remained focused and supported one another. Winning Company of the Year reflects our resilience, creativity, and shared vision. I am grateful for every team member and proud of what we have achieved together.”

BTC has been a proud partner of the Junior Achievement program since its inception, maintaining a strong commitment to investing in young talent and empowering the next generation of leaders. The current BTC B.E.T. cohort includes 45 students, guided by both current and former BTC team members.
