CIBC Caribbean today announced that its Visa Debit, Visa Credit and Mastercard Credit Cards can now be added to Google Wallets, enabling its clients to make secure, fast and convenient digital payments using their compatible Android device.
Google Wallet enables cardholders to take advantage of simple and secure contactless payments and digital card storage on both Android and WearOS devices.
Starting June 9, 2026, Google Pay will be available initially to CIBC Caribbean clients in Barbados, Jamaica, The Cayman Islands, The Bahamas and Trinidad, with other territories to be added over time.
Clients will be able to store Visa and Mastercard Credit Cards and Visa Debit Cards within Google Wallet, a digital wallet that is also launching in these markets today and makes payments anywhere contactless payments are accepted. Besides payment cards, cardholders will also be able to save and access loyalty cards, boarding passes and tickets for entertainment events in the Google wallet.
Using Google Wallet also makes payments safer with multiple layers of security, adding to the protections already provided by your Visa Debit and Credit Card. “Introducing Google Wallet support for clients reflects CIBC Caribbean’s ongoing commitment to
delivering innovative client-centered digital banking solutions and is another important step in enhancing the digital banking experience for our clients,” said Jennifer Fuller, Director, Enterprise Payments, Cards and Merchant Services, at CIBC Caribbean.
“Adding Google Pay supports our focus on convenience, security and innovation, while allowing us to roll out this service in a phased and controlled manner across our markets. Our clients expect modern payment options that fit their lifestyles, and Google Pay delivers exactly that,” she added.
With Google Pay, clients can make contactless payments in-store, shop securely online and enjoy a seamless payment experience without needing to carry their physical cards. Google Wallet uses advanced security features including tokenisation and device level authentication ensuring that clients’ card details are never shared with merchants, making the transaction even more secure.
Also, if a phone is ever lost or stolen, the owner can simply use the “Find my device” function to instantly lock the device from anywhere, secure it with a new password, or even wipe it clean of personal information.
Clients can get started by downloading the Google Wallet from the Google Play store and adding their CIBC Caribbean Visa or Mastercard Credit Cards and Visa Debit Cards.
