Marathon residents received practical guidance on financing, purchasing and protecting a home during “Let’s Talk House,” a homeownership initiative hosted by Member of Parliament the Hon. Lisa Rahming.
The initiative formed part of Rahming’s first Marathon constituency branch meeting since the May 2026 General Elections, reently held at Claridge Primary School.
The event brought residents face-to-face with professionals representing mortgage financing, real estate, insurance, construction and property development, allowing them to ask questions and receive information relevant to each stage of the homeownership process.
Presentations addressed mortgage qualification, financing options, property selection, residential development and insurance coverage, giving prospective homeowners a clearer understanding of the requirements and resources available to them.
Participating organisations included the Ministry of Urban Renewal and Community Relations, Twenty Twenty Associates, Bahamas Mortgage Corporation, Corcoran Bahamas, Arwak Homes, Colonial Realty, Teachers Credit Union, Keller Williams Bahamas, Colina Insurance and Loans by Phone.
Rahming, who also serves as Minister of Urban Renewal and Community Relations, said the initiative reflected her commitment to connecting constituents with practical information and opportunities that can contribute to their economic advancement.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for Rahming to reconnect with constituents and Progressive Liberal Party supporters following the General Elections and to hear their concerns about matters affecting the Marathon community.
Some residents received BPL and Rubis fuel vouchers, while an air-conditioning unit, microwave, straw hats and other prizes were distributed through raffles.
Through “Let’s Talk House,” residents left with greater knowledge of the homeownership process and direct connections to organisations that may help them move closer to owning a home.
