Building confident young men begins with helping boys understand their value, discover their potential and recognize that the choices they make today can shape the men they become tomorrow.
That message of purpose, possibility and personal responsibility was at the heart of an engaging session at E.P. Roberts Primary School, where Minister of State in the Ministry of Social Services, the Hon. Bacchus Rolle, joined the Men of Today, Men of Tomorrow (MO²) initiative in encouraging boys across the school’s primary grade levels.
Minister Rolle challenged the students to view education as one of the most powerful tools they possess.
“Think about education as your superpower. Don’t think of school as somewhere you come and sit; it’s somewhere to exercise your superpower,” he told them.
He reminded the boys that greatness is not simply something a person possesses, but something that must be continually developed.
“We all have the potential to be great, but we have to practise it. Every time you pick up a book to read, try to solve a math problem [or] interact with people in your space, you are developing your superpower,” Minister Rolle said.
He encouraged the boys to understand that developing their individual abilities also contributes to something larger than themselves, bringing people together “as a unit to be one and be the very best we can be for our community.”

The session went beyond a traditional school presentation, creating space for open conversation with the boys about their lives, choices and aspirations. Through the interaction, Minister Rolle and other participants reinforced the importance of self-worth, discipline, education, responsibility and purpose, while assuring the students that their lives have value and their futures are worth investing in.
The engagement formed part of the Men of Today, Men of Tomorrow (MO²) programme, which seeks to provide positive guidance and developmental support for boys as they grow into young men.
Joining the session from MO² were Dereo B. Maycock, Chairman and Program Director; Pastor Aleonce Bazile, Haitian Community Liaison Advisor and Progression Learning Pillar Co-Lead; Curtis Bryan, Secretary and Financial Advisor on the Board of Directors and Progression Learning Pillar Lead; and Shelton Burrows, Business Advisor and Restoration Ambassador on the Board of Directors and Physical (Personal) Development Pillar.
Minister Rolle was accompanied by Donovan Rolle as part of the Ministry of Social Services team.
The E.P. Roberts Primary School administration was represented by Vice Principal Diane Williams and Senior Mistress Tamara Forbes-Gray, who joined in supporting an initiative centred on the positive development of the school’s boys.
The Ministry of Social Services continues to support programmes and partnerships that invest in children and families, recognizing the importance of reaching boys during their formative years with mentorship, encouragement and positive examples.
For the boys of E.P. Roberts Primary School, the message was both immediate and forward-looking: they have value now, they have the potential to achieve greatness, and education can help them develop the “superpower” to build brighter futures for themselves, their families and their communities.
