More than 50 young nominees were honoured during the Grand Bahama Youth Medal Ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports through its Division of Youth in partnership with the Youth Month Committee and Youth Advisory Council.
The ceremony was held on Thursday evening, 22 October 2026 at Freeport Bible Church, recognising the achievements and contributions of young people across Grand Bahama.
The evening featured spirited musical selections by the Urban Renewal Band and a liturgical dance performance by Zander Lightbourne, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
Award recipients will join other young achievers in the Youth Award Pool, representing Grand Bahama in New Providence.
Minister of Youth and Sports, the Hon. Mario Bowleg, emphasised the importance of empowering young people through programmes that encourage meaningful participation and give them opportunities to express their views.
He stressed that these initiatives were designed to ensure young people are not merely afforded a seat at the table but are also given a voice in discussions and decisions that shape their future.
The ceremony highlighted the importance of recognising youth achievement while encouraging continued leadership, involvement and positive contributions to society.
