PLP And FNM Demonstrations

Bahamian Media News:

Supporters of both the Free National Movement (FNM) and the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) demonstrated in Rawson Square on Monday. FNM supporters led by Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Michael Pintard protested in favor of the removal of the Minister of Labour and Immigration, the Hon. Keith Bell from his position.

Pintard said, “one of the questions we wish to ask once again, is what else are we not aware of that this government has been doing in secrecy. Mr. Bell as well as members of his Cabinet, they have effectively created a credibility problem for this government.”

While Mr. Bell did not speak with reporters one of his supporters Daniel Thompson said, “Take the bebe, in Bahamian parlance, out your eyes. Adrian Gibson is a national disgrace engaged in illegality that is before the court. They ought to deal with that rather than come here to deal with speculation. What has been illegal what he has done. He has simply given an advice and followed directives. What is illegal…nothing.”

In recent weeks the Minister of Labour and Immigration has come under fire for conferring citizenship on the wife and children of Franck Racine at his funeral service and for the release of Chinese nationals found working illegally on the renovation project at the British Colonial Hilton.
