The Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA) is the investigating an emergency landing that took place near Treasure Cay, Abaco on July 31st.
The aircraft, that was enroute to Florida at the time of the incident, reportingly began experiencing difficulties shortly after take off from the Leonard Thompson International Airport. AAIA Chief Investigator, Kendal Dorsett provided an update of the investigation. He said, “we’ve been in contact with the pilot and we’re gathering data from the pilot, the Royal Bahamas Police Force and we’ve also been in contact with the United States National Transportation Safety Board.”
Pilot of the Piper PA32 aircraft, Troy Cornea, contacted emergency services at the time of the landing in mashes near Treasure Cay. Dorsett said, “at this time there are plans underway to retrieve the aircraft. And so we’re coordinating with a Florida based recovery team to facilitate the retrieval of the aircraft.”
The pilot was not seriously injured in this incident
