AI In The Court System

Bahamian Media News:

Acting Supreme Court Registrar, Renaldo Toote spoke with ZNS News outside of Christ Church Cathedral on Wednesday about the use of AI with in the court system.

He said, “right now one of the things I’m working on is something called E-Probate.  What E-Probate is no longer you have to physically and manually file a probate document.  You can just go online and you can just put in the name of the deceased person, you could put in who’s applying and artificial intelligence is going to actually automate and populate the document for you.  Last year the Chief Justice introduced e-filing.  So right now all of the documents in 2024 going into 2025 were paperless based.  So attorneys and members of the public can actually file court filings from the comfort of their homes.  So we’ve had a number of documents come in where you actually have Bahamians and other litigants before the court who are actually outside the jurisdiction.

Toote was sworn in as Acting Registrar in November 2024.
