Anger Management Problematic Among Youth

Bahamian Media News:

The Minister of Education and Technical and Vocational Training, the Hon. Glenys Hanna Martin commented on anger management issues among the nation’s young people outside of the House of Assembly on Wednesday. Her comments came after police revealed in a press statement the recent stabbing of a student during an off campus altercation.

Hanna Martin said, “one of the issues is the use of social media. This is a major challenge and it a lot of, sort of, vexatious interactions that are happening. I think during the pandemic it became more established and it has continued now that schools are open. But we’ll continue to resist it. We are trying every effort to ensure that we are able to facilitate safety on the campuses. This was off campus and so the police are managing it now, they’re dealing with it and we will wait to get their report. On the school campus we seek to ensure safety as best we can. This requires a large effort. This is not a one dimensional thing of the Ministry of Education, the teachers, the principal, this is something, particularly because it was off campus, this is something that requires all hands on deck.”
